I read that DEUX EX MACHINA. It's something like the Rome Empire or the Etruscan Empire around borders of Thulê. And they try to invade the Ultima Thulê how it had been happening before, Europe became a civilization. More earlier, the Rome Empire was a civilization, not Europe. And the Etruscan Empire was a civilization before the Rome Empire. Actually, when the Etruscan Empire had existed Rome didn't exist. Rome is something like a modern version of Etruscan Empire after Etruscans disappeared. So, there is a difference between legionaries and Thulêans. Yes, legionaries are warriors, but be a warrior is the life style for Thulêans. Thulêans were born to die in battle. Thulêans are savage battlers, it's a part of their nature, a part of their mentality. Legionaries are servicemen though. I remember Varg mentioned that difference between barbarian Thulêans and legionaries from civilian Empires.

p16 "They (legionaires) do not train to become warriors, but to serve a certain role in an organized army."
of the legionaires it is written on the same page
"(legionaires) not to fight for the sake of honour but to kill the enemy and to win the fight"
It follows that a Thulean warrior is not born to die in battle but, to fight honourably and die honourably if his honour requires it. So to understand under what circumstances a Thulean warrior was to die in battle, we would need to understand their code of honour first. In Deus Ex Machina we have 3 hints as to what sort of honour a Thulean aspires to.
1. "betterment of the tribes" - pursuit of sorcery and artefacts
p11 "A war seemed on its way, but reason prevailed, and they all agreed that the use of sorcery should be allowed, and that some artefacts could well be collected and used for the betterment of the tribes."
In such a case where it is more important for the tribe to focus on sorcery than war, the warrior's role would thus be to fight to ensure that sorcery be restored to Thule, in such a way that war does not break out.
2. "no civilization was to be built on the isles of Thule" p10
3. "focus on improving themselves - by living a hard, dangerous and challenging life" p6

I knew some people who thought this way. They all died in wars and aren't here to speak anymore.

But we discuss a game, man. If your character is dead in a game, because he died in an imagine battle, so it's nothing. Of course, if some war really happens (not in your imagination) a lot of people will behave in another way. So, I meant with 'to die in battle' is nothing for an imagine character in your mind.

Yes of course. As a game though, zerg rush makes too much hack-n-slash. Melikes magic quests, sneaky quests. Save the hack-n-slash for big boss at the end. You savor it, make smaller creatures more frightening and dangerous, then when you bring out the big baddies they are TERRIFYING and mean something.
Anyways, just a storyteller's preference.

Something like this, yeah. Do stuff by your character to crush imaginations of your players or GMs. Let them tell you that you're a sick and it's really pleasure to play game sessions with you. I don't feel something like this for really long time. It's bad I think. Okay.
