I usually listen to music that inspires me while I am planning and designing. During the course of play I tend to use ambient weather effects, nature sounds, and location sound effects, such as for villages, cities, and taverns, etc.

I love having something neutral like soundtracks on... when there's important events someone may switch something strong atmospheric or cinematic music on

I find this album inspirational to make stories of remote ages. Some songs makes a dark and savage atmosphere.

This is a bit specific, but if you are looking for traditional polyphonic songs with female voices (for a banquet or ceremony scene) in a language that is most likely foreign to you (Flemish, for added exotism), then you should look up the band Laïs. Here is the playlist of their first album.
