The Adventurer or Sellsword are almost exclusively Thulean by race, because it is the only race that has nearly free passage throughout the realms of Thule. Their social class is minimally that of a Freeman, but in many cases they may be the distant heir of a noble family and thus freer to travel more abroad than true landed nobles.
What will become obvious is that the Character Role has skills suited for living a life of travel abroad, and via various modes of transportation. Physical travel is only one aspect, they also need to be able to socially move from one region to another and have the social skills and area knowledge to be accepted as a welcomed traveler, if not a guest.
Because of their desire to maintain acceptance abroad, they maintain a code that, although they may accept payment for their services, the nature of the work they partake in must be honorable. It should not be work that is below their status, they being lesser noble or a higher born freeman.
Bounty hunting is for The Hunters, not for Sellswords. They will also not take up arms to raid for slaves, or recapture escaped slaves unless they pose a risk. But, they will take work to quash a slave revolt, or act against a group of bandits. They will not take jobs to raid villages of a Thulean tribe at the request of another Thulean tribe, but they will hire themselves out to defend a village from attack. They will not defend khemeshians unless they are of high standing within a Thulean tribe’s protection. A Sellword would never protect an Arbis, from any other group of people, including other Arbis.
As adventurers, they will more often than not, delve into the unknown and put down rogue beasts or investigate ruins.
[Note] Sellswords are much like Legionaries in that they reflect a trend away from the more traditional, early Iron Age tribal societies of Thule. Yes, they are still members of tribes, but the travel more abroad than any other Thulean character role, perhaps even more so than merchant traders.
